A recorder rooted in the Kynseker tradition, by Mollenhauer
The Mollenhauer Kynseker recorder is part of a "historical" approach inspired by instruments preserved at the German National Museum in Nuremberg. This series emphasizes the authenticity of the external shape and a distinctive sound aesthetic, characterized by expressive playing and a marked presence. Within the Mollenhauer range, the Kynseker model stands out as a recorder designed for ensemble music, with a confident sound personality and carefully tuned intonation.
For which musician and repertoire?
This soprano recorder is suitable both for beginner musicians (looking for a reliable and stable instrument) and for intermediate players wishing to explore a more "Renaissance / early Baroque" sound. It is particularly comfortable in early music (consort, dances, Renaissance and early Baroque pieces), but remains versatile enough for pedagogy, amateur ensembles, or more cross-genre projects (folk, traditional music, arrangements).
Sound and design
Made from dark-stained maple, the Kynseker offers a timbre with a strong projection and a tonal color that highlights articulation and phrase relief, a key point in ensemble playing. The intonation and sound tuning are reported to be particularly refined, for more comfortable sound production and a homogeneous response. The fingerings similar to Baroque fingering allow players to keep classical references for learning and reading, while benefiting from the unique sound identity of this "Renaissance / early Baroque" family.
Recommended compatible accessories
The recorder comes with a leather case including a microfiber cleaning swab, joint grease, a fingerings chart, and a maintenance manual : essentials to protect the instrument, manage humidity, and ensure regular care from the first sessions.
