A Modern Tribute to an Explosive Chapter of Rock

Designed with Johnny Wator (Daredevil Pedals), the "Jail Guitar Doors Drive" channels the abrasive aesthetic of early 70s recordings. It follows the tradition of MXR pedals that celebrate legendary sounds while offering the reliability of a compact and rugged format. More than a nod, it is a contemporary reinterpretation of a cult saturation, crafted for the current demands of stage and studio.

Who Is It For, and In What Contexts?

Ideal for garage rock, punk, alternative rock, and hard rock guitarists, this pedal delivers a dense grain that cuts through the mix without sterile harshness. Its minimalist interface promotes efficiency in live settings, while its dynamic response will also appeal to home studio musicians seeking a ready-to-record drive. Beginners and experts alike will find an immediate saturated channel, easy to dial in and simple to integrate into a pedalboard.

A Cascading Circuit Designed for the Stage

The heart of the pedal combines Daredevil Pedals' "Drive-Bi Dual Gain" circuit with the famous MXR Micro Amp to create two gain stages operating in cascade. In practice, the more you turn the potentiometer, the thicker the saturation naturally becomes, with balanced EQ and a "live" style projection. The compact enclosure featuring Shepard Fairey's graphics reflects the project's committed spirit; a portion of the proceeds supports the Jail Guitar Doors USA organization. The whole is connected via true bypass to preserve signal integrity when the pedal is off.

The Sound

Expect a punchy drive with pronounced mids that retains attack and definition even at high gain levels. The lows remain tight, the highs keep their bite without harshness, and the pedal responds subtly to guitar volume and player touch. Placed before a boost or behind a transparent overdrive, it stacks perfectly to expand the palette, ranging from gritty crunch to a saturated roar with generous harmonics.
