A Modern Evolution of a Classic Overdrive

For over 30 years, Nobels' ODR family has established itself as a reference for guitarists seeking a natural, expressive overdrive that is easy to integrate into a rig. The ODR-mini2 carries the DNA of this iconic circuit, highly appreciated by session guitarists (especially in country and rock genres), making it more compact and flexible.

This "mini2" version takes the concept further than the original ODR-mini thanks to finer bass control and the ability to operate at 18V, two improvements particularly useful on modern pedalboards.

Who Is It For, Which Styles, and In What Contexts?

The Nobels ODR-mini2 is aimed at guitarists from beginner to professional levels who want an analog overdrive pedal capable of covering a wide range: from a subtle clean boost to warm overdrive, including a more pronounced drive to make solos sing.

It excels in blues, country, classic rock, pop, and anything that requires natural dynamics and good response to guitar volume. In the studio, it fits easily into a mix thanks to the Spectrum and Bass Cut controls. On stage, its mini format, phosphorescent markers, and ease of adjustment make it a reliable choice.

Controls, Settings, and Features Designed for the Pedalboard

The ODR-mini2 offers immediate handling with four potentiometers: Drive (saturation level), Level (output volume), Spectrum (tone), and the new Bass Cut to adjust the amount of bass sent into the overdrive. The Spectrum control is part of Nobels' signature: it acts as a dual filter simultaneously affecting bass and treble, useful for shifting from a thick, round sound to a more incisive overdrive without falling into artificial equalization.

True bypass preserves the signal when the pedal is off, and the power supply up to 18V allows for more headroom before internal saturation, often resulting in a more open, dynamic, and "cleaner" feel when playing hard.

Sound Character

The Nobels ODR-mini2 is known for its natural overdrive, with a rich texture, moderate compression, and excellent responsiveness to right-hand playing. It retains the character of the guitar and amplifier while adding just enough grit to thicken a clean tone, push an already crunchy channel, or provide sustain for leads.

Its strength lies in low-end management: it can remain generous and full for rich rhythms, but the Bass Cut allows you to "clean up" the bass if your amp or speaker becomes too overwhelming. The result is an overdrive that can be both warm and precise, highly appreciated by guitarists such as Jerry Donahue, Guthrie Trapp, Carl Verheyen, and Tim Pierce.
