With the Amp Academy Stomp, Nux takes the idea of a compact setup capable of replacing an amp and speaker cabinet further, without sacrificing dynamics or precision. The separation of stages (preamp, power amp, and speaker section via IR) allows fine adjustment of response, punch, and presence in the mix, whether you play through a PA system, an audio interface, stage monitors, or in the return of a power amp.

This approach is particularly interesting for modern pedalboards: you keep your favorite pedals (drive, fuzz, modulation) while securing the "amp + cab" part with recallable presets that remain consistent from one gig to another.

A reliable tool for stage, home studio, and headphone playing

The Amp Academy Stomp is aimed both at guitarists who want to simplify their gear and at demanding musicians seeking a reproducible solution. In live settings, the balanced outputs facilitate direct connection to the mixing console with a clean and controlled level. In the home studio, the USB-C turns the pedal into an audio interface for quickly recording guitars ready to mix. For practice, the headphone output and auxiliary input are ideal for working silently with backing tracks.

Thanks to its flexible routing and delay and reverb blocks, it covers a wide musical range: dynamic blues and rock, precise pop and funk, fusion, modern metal, as well as ambient textures when stacking delays and reverbs more creatively.

Scenes, free routing, and foot control: a "pedalboard-friendly" logic

The effects chain includes Noise Gate, Comp, EFX (drives), AMP, I.R., EQ, Send/Return, DLY, and RVB blocks. The free routing allows organizing the order of blocks according to your workflow: comp before drive, EQ post IR, or effects loop placed before the amp for your gain pedals, then after for delays and reverbs, just like in a traditional rig.

The 3 assignable footswitches are designed for real playing conditions: scene changes within a preset, block activation, quick functions, or controlling essential actions. Global settings centralize what matters on stage (global EQ, output and headphone levels, auxiliary input level, quick lock, and tuner) to avoid navigating menus at the wrong moment.

Editing and updates are done via USB-C, and control from a smartphone can be done via Bluetooth by adding the NUX NBT-1 module: convenient for fine-tuning a preset remotely during soundcheck or adjusting a detail without bending down between takes.

The sound

The tonal character aims for the "amp" sensation: sharp attack, natural compression when pushing gain, and above all a credible response to pick nuances and the guitar's volume knob. With its stereo IRs, the image is wide and stable, bass remains controlled, and chords keep clarity even on more saturated sounds.

Low latency (2 ms) and high dynamic range (111 dB) enhance the impression of direct playing. Result: a pedal that can serve both as a clean platform for your external pedals and as a complete solution to move from a clean verse to a denser chorus, then to a lead that stands out in the mix.
