Dynamic Expression Control to Enrich Your Pedalboard

The Electro-Harmonix Expression Ramper is designed for guitarists, bassists and keyboard players who want to go beyond traditional manual control. Connected to an effect pedal featuring an expression input, it can automatically animate parameters such as rate, depth, mix, filter or pitch, depending on the capabilities of the connected effect.

It is equally suited to musicians seeking evolving ambient textures and fans of experimental sounds, funk, electro or alternative rock. The footswitch activates the movement on demand, making it ideal for introducing a filter sweep, a delay variation or expressive modulation precisely when the performance calls for it.

Programmable Ramps, Tap Tempo and Six Movements to Explore

The principle is simple: define two expression positions, named A and B, then let the Expression Ramper move through this range according to the selected waveform. This can reproduce a cyclic sweep, a sharp alternation or a single transition between the two values. The storable settings make it easy to recall your configurations and quickly return to your favorite effects.

The six waveforms—Triangle, Square, 1 Shot, Smooth Random, Sharp Random and 1 Shot Random—cover a wide range of behaviors. From smooth oscillations to unpredictable changes, they add movement to your effects without tying up your foot on an expression pedal. The Rate knob adjusts the cycle speed, while Tap Tempo lets you synchronize this speed directly to the track's rhythm.

Its configurable EXP output ensures broad compatibility with most pedals equipped with expression control. You can select standard TRS, reverse-polarity TRS or TS wiring to adapt the controller to your equipment.
