On a pedalboard, it works equally well before overdrives/distortions (to push the input and tighten the low end) or after saturations (to increase level and EQ the final sound). In studio or live, it's typically the pedal that helps cut through the mix with a footswitch tap, without having to adjust the amp between songs.

The Two Stroke combines a boost volume and a 2-band EQ where each band offers two settings: on one side, you select the frequency range to target, on the other you apply the cut/boost.
