Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
Pearl marked a turning point with the introduction of the Demon Drive in 2009, focusing on speed, precision, and mechanical efficiency. In 2013, the Japanese brand extended this spirit with the Demonator : a pedal directly inspired by the Demon, but designed to be a more accessible entry point into the "Demon" feel. Within Pearl's lineup, it is positioned as a modern and versatile solution, ideal for drummers seeking a double bass drum pedal that is responsive without opting for the higher-end models.
Target Audience for This Drum/Instrument
This double bass drum pedal is particularly aimed at beginner to intermediate drummers who want serious mechanics to work on technique (heel, toe, swivel, slide playing) and improve consistency. It is also suitable for advanced drummers looking for a reliable pedal for rehearsals, a second kit, or intensive use without hassle. Style-wise, the Demonator excels wherever precision and speed are required: rock, metal, punk, fusion, modern pop, and any context where the bass drum needs to remain clear even at high tempos.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Pearl Demonator P-932L designed for a left-handed drummer?
This double pedal is offered in a left-handed configuration, with a main pedal adapted for this setup.
What type of drive system does this double pedal use?
The drive system is based on a single chain and a Perfect Circle cam. This cam provides a consistent response and can be replaced with an Eliminator cam.
Can the pedal feel be adjusted?
The Powershifter system has 3 settings: soft, medium, and firm. These settings change the chain angle and the leverage feel under the foot. Click-Lock springs then secure the chosen tension.
What beater comes with the Demonator?
A double-sided Control Core beater with felt/plastic is included. The felt side offers a rounder attack, while the plastic side enhances click and articulation.
Is the Demonator suitable for fast metal playing?
The frictionless bearings, Demon Style footboard, and infinite adjustment of the striking angle support precise playing at high tempos, especially in rock and metal.
