A delay designed for modern precision... without sacrificing feel

The DLY-4 CHRONO DELAY fits within the "pedalboard-friendly" approach to digital delays: offering high precision (clean repeats, stable tempo, reproducible settings) while maintaining an organic playing feel. Here, the dry signal remains analog, and the digital processing is reserved for the repeats, then converted back to analog before mixing: an ideal choice to preserve your guitar's attack, dynamics, and tone intact, even with a prominent delay.

For which guitarists and situations?

This pedal is aimed at guitarists from beginner to pro level who want an immediate, reliable delay for rehearsals and live performance. It excels in rock, pop, blues, indie, worship, and ambient styles whenever clean echoes, click-based rhythms, or wider solos are needed.

The A/B memory is especially practical live: a short delay time to thicken a riff, then a longer time for a solo or atmospheric part, with quick and clear footswitch changes.

Controls and features: from tempo to character of repeats

The Providence DLY-4 stands out with simple ergonomics focused on efficiency. The Mix control adjusts the amount of delay, ranging from a subtle "slapback" to a more enveloping effect. The Time knob sets the delay duration, while Deed Back adjusts the number of repeats, from a single echo to longer trails.

The Echo Hardness control allows you to refine the texture of the repeats: softer and smoother to support playing, or sharper and more percussive for precise rhythmic parts. The Beat Split parameter shapes the rhythmic feel (subdivisions/placement of repeats), very useful for achieving "dotted" patterns or echoes that breathe with the groove.

On stage, the two switches add real convenience: BPM/msec to choose between tempo-based or millisecond delay, and AB/Tap to toggle between two stored delay times or enter the tempo via footswitch.

Sound

To the ear, the DLY-4 delivers a clean, defined, and deep delay with great clarity even when repeats accumulate. Keeping the dry signal analog helps maintain a precise attack and natural dynamics : your core tone stays front and center, with the echo enhancing rather than masking it.

Thanks to Echo Hardness, you can tailor the "hardness" of repeats to your style: rounder repeats to thicken chords and singing leads, or more biting repeats for pick-driven patterns and rhythm lines synced to the tempo.
