A Signature Born from the Stage: The PRS DGT DNA

The result of a long-term collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom, the PRS DGT embodies the spirit of classic traditional electric guitars while incorporating musician-focused choices: neck ergonomics, balanced controls, and hardware designed to withstand touring. The outcome is a signature electric guitar with a strong character, ready for both recording and touring, offering a familiar feel from the very first minutes of playing.

For Whom and Which Styles?

Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists, the PRS DGT excels in blues, rock, roots, country, Americana, and adapts very well to modern pop/rock or fusion when its dynamics and volume nuances are exploited. The two independent volumes (one per pickup) facilitate blending in the middle position, while the coil split opens the door to snappier rhythms and more open arpeggios without losing the warm foundation of a PRS with humbuckers.

The Sound

The PRS DGT humbuckers emphasize a singing midrange, tight lows, and smooth highs, with a very responsive right-hand attack. When overdriven, the guitar maintains clarity and natural sustain, supported by the maple/mahogany combination and the set neck joint. In cleaner tones, the push/pull tone control allows for brighter, more articulated colors, ideal for chicken picking, double-stops, and detailed rhythm parts. The massive and precise PRS Gen III tremolo contributes to efficient string energy transfer and expressive playing without any mushiness.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup and tension, a set of PRS Signature 11-49 strings (with plain G string) is a coherent choice. For maintaining the nitrocellulose finish, favor a clean, dry microfiber cloth. A comfortable strap (leather or nylon, about 50 mm wide) is also recommended for better support on stage.
