The PRS Hollowbody in SE version: original spirit, modern versatility

With the SE Hollowbody II Piezo, PRS revisits the hallmarks that made its hollowbodies successful: meticulous luthiery, elegant f-holes, a flamed top, and the famous "Birds" inlays. Positioned in the SE range, it aims for an accessible approach without sacrificing the PRS sonic identity, while adding electronics particularly practical for musicians switching between electric textures and more "unplugged" passages.

For whom and in which styles?

This guitar is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a unique instrument capable of covering a full set. It feels at home in jazz, blues, soul, pop, and elegant rock, with defined cleans, creamy crunches, and a real piezo option to enrich arrangements without changing guitars.

The sound

The hollowbody sandwich maple/mahogany/maple body delivers a more open and organic response than a solid body, with rich resonance, a "3D" feel, and natural sustain. The flamed maple top contributes to precision and attack, while the overall construction favors ample projection, ideal for complex chords as well as melodic lines.

On the electric side, the PRS 58/15 LT "S" humbuckers (inspired by a vintage spirit and low winding) provide silky mids, clear highs, and excellent definition in clean tones, while remaining creamy when pushing the amp. The LR Baggs/PRS piezo system adds brightness and articulation typical of acoustics. The independent volumes, tone control, and 3-position selector allow fine blending, and the separate outputs facilitate dual routing (guitar amp + DI/acoustic chain). In magnetic-only mode, the circuit bypasses the battery for maximum reliability on stage.

Recommended compatible accessories

To fully exploit the potential of the two outputs, plan for one or two good quality 6.35 mm jack cables. A spare 9V alkaline battery is recommended for the piezo, and a set of 10-46 electric strings matches the original gauge. The hard case is included for transport.
