Born from a close collaboration between John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, the Silver Sky synthesizes appreciated details from 1963 and 1964 guitars while bringing a modern vision: coherent luthiery, consistent playability, and optimized tuning stability. The reversed PRS headstock, choice of components, and vibrato design contribute to this idea: to recapture a familiar feel, but with the finish and consistency of a new instrument.

Sound

With its alder body, the Silver Sky offers a natural balance: clear lows, present mids, and bright highs. The 3 single-coil 635JM pickups are designed to remain musical and full-bodied without excessive harshness, while maintaining the typical articulation of single coils. The 1 volume, 2 tone electronics and 5-position selector allow switching from a warm, singing neck sound to snappy intermediate positions, then to a sharper bridge tone. The PRS steel vibrato, thanks to its optimized contact with the body, contributes to a resonant and responsive guitar with excellent feel under the hand.
