The "594": a classic spirit in the S2 series
At PRS, the S2 series holds a strategic place: guitars made in the USA, designed to offer great manufacturing consistency and true reliability in concert conditions. The name "594" refers to the scale length of 24.594" / 625 mm, a format associated with "vintage" feel: slightly softer strings, natural attacks, and precise intonation. The Mira 594 Satin retains the direct and snappy DNA of the Mira while adding a discreet satin finish and more flexible electronics to cover a wide range of situations.
What kind of guitarists and styles is it for?
Thanks to its playability and stability, the S2 Mira 594 is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists who want a reliable main instrument, equally effective in rehearsal and studio. Its natural playground remains rock and blues, but the humbuckers' coil split allows effortless exploration of garage, punk, and pop/indie, with snappier rhythms and more defined arpeggios.
Sound
The combination of mahogany body and neck delivers rich mids, well-controlled low end, and softened highs, with a natural sustain feel. The PRS 58/15 LT pickups, with lighter winding, emphasize dynamics and definition: in humbucker mode, you get articulate saturation, controlled bite, and nice thickness for leads; in split mode, the sound opens up, gaining brightness and precision for airier chords. The PRS Stoptail with brass inserts enhances vibration transmission, while the nitro satin finish, being thinner, promotes a very "finger-friendly" response. The result: a guitar that sits easily in the mix, from snappy crunch to more driven tones.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain the original balance, favor 10-46 gauge electric strings. A comfortable strap and a 6.35 mm jack cable (straight or angled depending on your setup) ideally complete the stage and rehearsal setup. The included Premium gig bag is suitable for daily transport.
