Developed with Herman Li, the SE Chleo incorporates the DNA of a decidedly modern specification (fast neck profile, very flat radius, highly usable active electronics) while preserving what defines PRS identity: comfort, meticulous finishes, and overall balance. It stands as a highly refined entry point into the modern metal realm within the SE series, offering a level of versatility rarely achieved on a Floyd-equipped guitar.
For Which Guitarist?
This PRS is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking precise attack, fluid left-hand playability, and impeccable tuning stability. It excels in power metal, shred, prog, and djent, but can also return to more rock-oriented tones thanks to the single-coil style voicings and the combinations available via the 5-way selector switch.
Sound Characteristics
The combination of a mahogany body and maple top delivers dense mids, tight lows, and a clear high-end definition that remains articulate under high gain. The carved top contributes to playing comfort while enhancing projection and sustain, ideal for singing leads and tight rhythms. The Fishman Fluence Omniforce Herman Li Series pickups provide a very dynamic response and low noise level, with multiple voices ranging from a punchy modern humbucker to a rounder tone, up to clear and crystalline textures close to a single-coil. The combination of push/pull controls and the 5-way selector transforms the guitar into a true sonic palette, usable in both clean and overdriven settings.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original feel, 9-46 electric strings (ball-end) are a coherent choice, especially with a Floyd Rose. Also plan for a spare 9V battery (for the active electronics) and a comfortable strap for stage use and long sessions.
