The DGT Spirit: A "McCarty" Approach in SE Format
Born from the collaboration between PRS and David Grissom, the SE DGT Standard carries the DNA of instruments focused on "feel" and musicality: PRS ergonomics, "Shallow Violin" carved top, and robust construction. The combination of all mahogany and nickel-plated hardware aims for generous resonance and rock-solid reliability, with an immediately recognizable sonic identity.
For Which Guitarist and Styles
Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists, this PRS excels in blues, rock, country, and fusion. The two independent volume controls allow fine balancing of the pickups (or setting up a rhythm/lead "preset" on the selector), while the split coil opens the door to clearer, more percussive textures for rhythm playing and arpeggios.
The Sound
The mahogany body/neck duo delivers immediate warmth, slight musical compression, and flattering sustain, with solid mids that help the guitar "cut through" the mix. The DGT "S" humbuckers offer a dense yet articulate grain: in humbucker mode, you get a thick and singing register; in split mode, the attack becomes more defined, ideal for airier chords or biting crunch. The PRS vibrato completes the package by adding expressiveness without sacrificing tuning stability under normal use.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original setup, a set of 10-46 gauge electric strings (nickel) is recommended. You may also consider a comfortable strap, a quality 6.35 mm jack cable (straight or angled according to your preference), and a stable stand suitable for solidbody guitars.
