PRS SE Silver Sky Defender Petra Copper LTD

A Silver Sky Inspired by the Defender World

The PRS SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition Petra Copper extends the spirit of the Silver Sky designed with John Mayer: a contemporary electric guitar shaped for comfort, drawing on the great traditions of three-single-coil solidbody guitars. This special version stands out with a visual identity inspired by the Defender vehicle palette, featuring a particularly elegant and distinctive Petra Copper finishing.

Beyond its color, this limited edition is immediately recognizable by its black pickguard—the first on this Silver Sky version—as well as its exclusive Defender neck plate. It retains the fundamentals that have made the model so successful: a dynamic response, a natural feel and a robust construction suited to regular use on stage and in rehearsal.

An Expressive Electric Guitar for Demanding Musicians

This PRS SE Silver Sky is aimed at intermediate and advanced guitarists looking for a versatile electric guitar capable of reproducing every detail of their playing. Its 635JM neck profile offers a well-balanced feel: substantial enough for strong chord work, while remaining comfortable for melodic lines, bends and fast phrasing.

It is particularly well suited to blues, rock, pop, soul, funk and alternative music. Thanks to its 5-way switch, it can easily move from a full, rounded neck sound to more biting bridge tones, while retaining the bright, scooped in-between positions prized for funky rhythms and precise arpeggios.

The Clarity of Single-Coil Pickups, with a Modern Response

The poplar solidbody provides a balanced tonal foundation, with even mids and a lively response under the fingers. Combined with the bolt-on maple neck, it promotes a crisp attack and excellent note definition, while the rosewood key slightly softens the top end to preserve a warm, musical character.

The three PRS 635JM " S " single-coil pickups are designed to deliver an open, dynamic and articulate sound. The neck pickup emphasizes rounded lows and smooth highs, making it well suited to singing solos and bluesy accompaniment. The middle pickup offers a balanced response, while the bridge pickup delivers extra bite for rock riffs, percussive rhythms and driven tones that need to remain clear.

The electronics include a master volume, two tone controls and a 5-way switch. This configuration makes it easy to fine-tune pickup brightness and precisely exploit the in-between tones. The two-point steel tremolo completes the package with smooth action, ideal for adding a touch of vibrato to a note or creating more expressive effects, while retaining the responsiveness expected from a stage guitar.
