PRS SE Silver Sky Defender Sedona Red LTD

A Silver Sky with a Strong Defender Character

This PRS SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition retains the fundamentals of the model designed with John Mayer, while dressing them in a distinctive new visual identity. The Defender Color collection draws inspiration from the contemporary shades of the iconic vehicle, selected from a broad palette of colors developed over the decades.

The Sedona Red finishing gives this stage guitar a warm and intense presence. Its Black pickguard, a first for the Silver Sky, accentuates its classic lines while giving it a more modern look. The exclusive Defender neck plate identifies this limited edition, designed as much for demanding musicians as for collectors drawn to instruments with distinctive styling.

An Expressive Electric Guitar for Stage and Studio

The PRS SE Silver Sky Defender is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists looking for a versatile, comfortable and immediately inspiring electric guitar. Its 635JM neck profile offers a full feel without being bulky, making it particularly well suited to nuanced playing, controlled bends and expressive phrasing.

Thanks to its 25.5" / 648 mm scale length and 8.5" / 216 mm radius, it retains a familiar feel for fans of vintage single-coil guitars, with playability designed to meet modern demands. It is perfectly suited to blues, rock, pop, funk, soul, electric folk and alternative styles that call for dynamic response.

Its 2-point steel tremolo allows you to add movement to chords, emphasize a melody or create subtle inflections without compromising playing comfort. The vintage-style tuners and synthetic bone nut contribute to an approach that is both traditional and functional.

The Precise, Dynamic Tone of the 635JM " S " Pickups

At the heart of this Silver Sky are three PRS 635JM " S " single-coil pickups. Their sonic character prioritizes definition, response to picking dynamics and harmonic richness. The neck pickup delivers warm, singing tones, ideal for blues lines, extended chords or smooth, warm solos.

In the middle position, the guitar reveals scooped, snappy and highly articulate tones. They are particularly effective for funk rhythms, pop arpeggios and accompaniment parts that need to remain clear within a mix. The bridge pickup provides more bite and projection for riffs, incisive leads or light to moderate overdrive.

The poplar body provides a balanced response, while the maple neck enhances attack and overall precision. The rosewood key slightly softens the top end and promotes a smooth feel under the fingers. Combined with the bolt-on neck, this construction delivers natural sustain and excellent responsiveness to changes in volume and picking dynamics.

The electronics consist of one volume control, two tone controls and a 5-way pickup selector. This configuration lets you access all the essential pickup combinations with ease, making it simple to move from a crystalline clean tone to a denser, more aggressive sound. This is a guitar that responds finely both to playing nuances and amplifier settings.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

This guitar is fitted with a 10-46 string set. To preserve its original setup and feel, it is recommended to use nickel-plated electric guitar strings in the same gauge. A soft, non-abrasive cloth is also recommended for maintaining the Sedona Red finishing, Black pickguard and nickel-plated hardware after each use.
