PRS SE Silver Sky Derby Red

A Silver Sky Designed with John Mayer, Made More Accessible

Born from the PRS x John Mayer collaboration, the Silver Sky has established a demanding reinterpretation of the classic "S-style" tradition: precise craftsmanship, refined ergonomics, and a strong visual identity. The PRS SE Silver Sky retains these essential hallmarks while aiming for excellent value for money, without sacrificing what defines the model: reversed headstock, 635JM profile, and a trio of detailed single-coils. The "Derby Red" finish delivers a bold stage presence while remaining elegant in the studio.

Who Is It For and What Styles?

This PRS SE targets ambitious beginners as well as intermediate/advanced players seeking a responsive, comfortable, and versatile electric guitar for everyday use. It excels in pop, funk, soul, blues, and rock: crisp rhythms, clean chops, bright arpeggios, and singing solos, with real flexibility thanks to the two tone controls.

The Sound

The poplar body offers a natural balance, with present mids and a clear response that sits easily in a mix. The bolt-on maple neck enhances attack and definition, while the rosewood fingerboard adds a slight warmth in the upper spectrum. The three PRS 635JM "S" single-coils deliver bright cleans, precise twang, and that characteristic "quack" in positions 2 and 4, ideal for funk and glassy tones. The 25.5" / 648 mm scale length promotes tension, precision, and sustain, and the 2-point vibrato allows expressive nuances while maintaining reliable return to zero.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

The guitar comes with a gig bag, and you can complement it with PRS Classic 10-46 electric steel strings (factory gauge), a standard strap, and a good-quality 6.35 mm jack cable. A guitar stand is also a simple solution to protect it and keep it always within reach.
