Silver Sky SE: PRS character and "S-type" DNA in an accessible version

Born from the collaboration between PRS and John Mayer, the Silver Sky marked a new interpretation of the "S-type" style guitar, combining a recognizable aesthetic (reverse headstock, "Small Birds" inlays) with a highly demanding approach to luthiery. This SE version retains the fundamentals that made the model successful, while offering excellent value and availability designed for more guitarists, here in a left-handed (LH) version.

The PRS SE Silver Sky LH targets motivated beginners, intermediate, and advanced guitarists seeking a versatile, precise, and comfortable electric guitar. It is particularly well-suited for funk, pop, soul, blues, and rock: the maple bolt-on neck responds quickly to attack for snappy rhythms, while the rosewood fingerboard offers a softer feel and a less aggressive upper spectrum for melodic lines.

Tone

The three single-coil 635JM "S" pickups are designed to deliver bright yet controlled highs, present mids, and clear lows, with a very expressive "glassy" quality in clean tones. The 5-position selector switch covers a wide range: scooped and percussive intermediate positions for funk, rounder and singing neck pickup for blues, and sharper bridge pickup for rock parts. The poplar body promotes a balanced response and good dynamics, the maple neck adds snap, and the rosewood fingerboard rounds off the overall sound. The 2-point steel PRS vibrato and synthetic bone nut contribute to stable tuning and smooth expressiveness, ideal for subtle vibratos as well as more pronounced effects.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original setup, a set of nickel strings 10-46 is perfectly suitable. An electric guitar strap (universal size) is recommended for standing play, and an electric guitar stand with protected contact areas helps preserve the finish and reverse headstock on a daily basis.
