Tekton SVN: the modern approach to the 7-string guitar according to PRS
The Tekton SVN embodies a thoroughly contemporary vision of the extended-range electric guitar. Its name, derived from Ancient Greek and associated with the artisan or builder, reflects a clear ambition: to combine meticulous craftsmanship, demanding ergonomics and features suited to todayâs musicians. This guitar does more than simply add a low string ; it has been designed as a complete instrument to fully exploit the possibilities of low-B tuning.
Its ergonomic solid-body design, Shallow Violin carve and bolt-on neck construction offer a familiar playing feel while providing easy access to all 24 frets. The Tekton SVN is therefore a performance instrument, designed for guitarists seeking an immediate response, excellent stability and a reliable platform for developing their own musical voice.
A precise 7-string for modern playing and sonic exploration
The PRS Tekton SVN is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists looking to make the move to a 7-string guitar, or seeking a more precise instrument for lower tunings. Its 26.5" / 673 mm scale length provides increased tension in the lower register: the low B string therefore retains greater definition, even during fast riffs, heavy picking or hard palm-muting.
It is particularly well suited to modern metal, progressive metal, djent, alternative rock, contemporary fusion and instrumental music, but its articulation also makes it a relevant choice for guitarists building extended chords, rich layers or more ambitious harmonic textures. The 16" / 406 mm radius and jumbo frets make bends, technical solos, fast playing and wide hand stretches easier.
Firm lows, detailed attack and plenty of gain on tap
The Tekton SVNâs construction directly contributes to its sonic character. The mahogany back adds density to the mids, a generous foundation and natural sustain that work well for both saturated tones and sustained notes. The figured mango top adds a lively response and a distinctive visual character, while the Shallow Violin carve enhances the bodyâs ergonomics without weighing down the instrumentâs lines.
The bolt-on maple neck promotes a crisp attack and fast response, two essential qualities on a 7-string guitar. Its ebony key provides a smooth, direct playing feel, with precise reproduction of transients. This combination of woods and construction preserves the clarity of complex chords and low riffs without sacrificing the presence required for lead parts.
The two PRS Stylus SVN pickups were developed specifically for this platform. They deliver an output level suited to modern tones while preserving note separation. In the bridge position, the Tekton SVN offers a firm, precise and punchy attack, ideal for high-gain rhythm playing. The neck pickup provides greater warmth and thickness for solos, expressive melodies or more open chords.
The electronics combine a 3-way blade pickup selector with a volume control and a push-pull tone control. The latter expands the sound-shaping possibilities and makes it possible to quickly adapt the guitarâs character to a traditional amplifier, a modeling chain or a recording environment. Even with plenty of gain, the Tekton SVN retains a clean low register and present highs without becoming harsh.
Recommended compatible accessories
The guitar comes fitted as standard with a set of PRS Signature strings in a 10-59 gauge, suited to its standard low-B tuning. To maintain a playing feel, tension and balance close to the factory setup, 7-string sets in a 10-59 gauge are recommended. A premium PRS gig bag is already supplied with the instrument for everyday transport and protection.
