What PSP B-Scanner Is For

PSP B-Scanner is an effect plugin designed to recreate the analog scanner vibrato/chorus made famous by the best vintage Hammond organs. Its purpose is to provide organic modulation with a lively, "three-dimensional" sense of movement that instantly transforms a somewhat static source into a wider, deeper, and more expressive sound.

It can be used on organ and electric keyboard sounds as well as a sound design tool on pads, guitars, pianos, synths, or even vocals in parallel, to add presence without relying on excessive reverb. In mixing, it can create a more subtle and musical vintage chorus than a standard chorus, while maintaining excellent clarity.

Main Features

Faithful Hammond scanner emulation

PSP B-Scanner was developed to accurately reproduce the vibrato and chorus behavior of the most sought-after Hammond organs. The goal is to capture the sound signature of these circuits: a smooth, rich modulation and a natural sense of movement, even when the effect is very prominent.

6 modes inspired by the "Selective Vibrato"

The plugin offers six modes based on the Selective Vibrato principle, allowing quick selection of the modulation color suited to the context. You can switch from a more discreet vibrato (ideal for expressiveness and playing) to a wider chorus (perfect for thickening a sound, widening a keyboard bus, or creating an "ensemble" impression).

Width, depth, and movement in the mix

Beyond organ sounds, PSP B-Scanner is an excellent tool to add stereo width and animation: on a pad, it brings breathing; on a clean guitar, it creates a vintage halo; on choirs or doubles, it helps widen without overloading. It is also a relevant choice on a parallel bus to dose modulation while keeping the main signal intact.

Host tempo synchronization

For modern productions, the ability to synchronize the scanner to the tempo facilitates integration into the groove. Useful for rhythmic parts, synchronized pads, or modulation effects locked to the grid, while preserving the analog character of the effect.
