What PSP ConsoleQ 2 Is For

PSP ConsoleQ 2 is a British console-style equalizer plugin designed to recreate the feel of an analog EQ, both in sound and ergonomics. It is used to correct a resonance, restore presence to a vocal, carve out a guitar to let the vocals breathe, or thicken a drum bus with a more "console" curve than a surgical EQ. Its versatility makes it relevant on a wide variety of sources (vocals, guitars, synths, drums, buses, and master), whenever you seek a natural-sounding equalization that "glues" to the mix.

Main Features

4 console-behavior bands, quick to adjust

The core of PSP ConsoleQ 2 is based on four EQ bands: two shelving-type filters (LF and HF) and two mid bands (Low Mid and High Mid) of peak type. The mid bands feature a gain-following Q behavior, typical of many analog equalizers: the more you boost or cut, the more selective the curve becomes, helping to achieve expressive results without complex settings.

More control without losing musicality

Version 2 introduces continuous frequency adjustment on all bands, facilitating fine tuning (for example, to place presence exactly where a vocal cuts through or to reduce snare harshness). The interface now displays numerical values, convenient for working quickly, reproducing settings, or securing session recalls.

Visual analysis and graphical control with PSPEC-31P

To go further in decision-making, PSP ConsoleQ 2 integrates a new interaction mode via PSP Spector PSPEC-31P, a pop-up module offering a 31-band real-time analyzer with several display options. You can visualize the signal energy and, depending on the chosen mode, work with a more "mix" representation (bars) or more "playback" (curve), while enjoying graphical control that allows adjusting multiple EQ parameters on one band with a single click.

Reliable processing, ready for modern production

PSP ConsoleQ 2 is designed to remain comfortable during sessions: its CPU efficiency allows easy insertion on many tracks. The processing relies on 64-bit double-precision mathematics to minimize cumulative filter errors, particularly useful when stacking multiple equalizations. The FAT mode (double sampling) activates automatically for low sample rates (below 50 kHz) and deactivates above, to maintain a consistent response depending on the session.

SAT: anti-clip protection and optional grain

At the output, a second-generation SAT (SATuration) option can be enabled to prevent digital clipping on what follows the plugin, while adding gentle saturation when the signal is pushed. Placed after the output level control in the internal chain, it provides slight density and a controlled "overdriven" character on demanding signals without turning your EQ into distortion.
