What PSP MasterComp Is For

PSP MasterComp is a stereo audio compressor designed to finalize a production with precise dynamic control and a smooth compression aesthetic, close to certain analog behaviors. It is intended for mastering uses (gluing a mix, stabilizing peaks, controlling low-end energy, gaining density without masking the high frequencies) as well as for mixing via the MicroComp version, ideal on buses (drums, instruments, mix bus) or tracks when a clean, effective, and quick-to-adjust result is desired.

Main Features

Transparency and control at a high level of demand

PSP MasterComp relies on 64-bit double precision processing and double-sampled FAT processing to preserve details, stereo depth, and clarity, even when compression becomes energetic. This approach allows working at high sample rates while maintaining a sense of clear high frequencies and a stable low end.

Two workflows: mastering and mixing

The installer includes PSP MasterComp (designed for mastering compression and expansion) and PSP MicroComp (designed for mixing). MicroComp offers a more direct control interface, a CPU-optimized algorithm, and settings oriented towards "bus/track" use to save time without sacrificing quality.

Extended dynamic control: compression, expansion, and intelligent settings

Whether to control or revitalize dynamics, MasterComp and MicroComp handle both compression and expansion above the threshold. You can enhance impact, bring life back to attacks, or conversely smooth out an overly aggressive program. Automatic attack and release times (intelligent options) facilitate achieving a musical behavior, particularly useful on a full mix.

Sidechain, linking, and advanced stereo processing

To better control the compressor's reaction, the plugin offers sidechain filtering as well as channel linking options, useful for stabilizing the center, maintaining a coherent stereo image, and preventing the low end from triggering excessive compression. Selectable channel processing (Mid, Side, Left, Right, Stereo) provides fine control to correct imbalance, sculpt the space, or tighten a mix without crushing its amplitude.

Dry/wet mix, limiter, and level meters

The Mix control allows simple parallel blending (between processed and direct signals) to preserve natural transients while gaining density. A high-quality optional brickwall limiter is available on output with automatic release to secure the final level. The advanced PPM/VU meters offer contextual readings and adjustable parameters, useful for precisely calibrating level and dynamic action.
