PSP MasterQ2 is an equalizer plug-in designed for situations where every dB counts: finalizing a master, resonance correction, managing the low end, or highlighting an element in a dense mix. Its "Quality" approach goes beyond a classic mastering EQ: it can also be used as a creative tool to shape a tone, tighten a source, or bring a sense of control and stability on buses (drums, vocals, guitars, synths) and on the master bus.

Thanks to its precise filters and fidelity-oriented design, it is particularly suitable for productions where transparency and spectrum control are priorities: electronic music, modern pop, hybrid orchestral, post-production, as well as any project requiring surgical equalization without unwanted artifacts.

Main Features

"Surgical" equalization with 7 complementary filters

PSP MasterQ2 combines the essentials of a mastering EQ chain while remaining quick to handle during mixing. You have low cut and high cut filters with selectable slopes (12, 24, or 36 dB/oct) to clean a signal without crushing it, bass and treble shelves that can be switched to peaking mode for more targeted corrections, and three parametric bands dedicated to sensitive areas (low-mid, middle, high-mid). Each band offers extended frequency and Q factor adjustments, allowing you to go from broad, musical correction to very narrow intervention on a resonance.

Readability and visual spectrum control

The EQ graph provides an overview of the overall curve as well as each filter's contribution. This visualization helps you work quickly and accurately: it's easier to spot an overly broad correction, an over-processed area, or conversely, a cutoff slope to optimize. In mastering, this facilitates "micro" decisions (small corrections) that nonetheless change the perception of tonal balance.

Headroom management: integrated limiting and soft-clipping

In addition to equalization, PSP MasterQ2 includes a selection of limiting and soft-clipping algorithms. The goal is not to replace a dedicated final limiter, but to offer musical control of level and instantaneous dynamics: taming a peak created by a shelf correction, slightly densifying a source, or securing a bus to avoid digital clipping. This section naturally fits into a mixing and pre-mastering workflow, keeping the signal under control without breaking the intent.

Numerical precision: 80-bit processing and stability with extreme settings

Internal processing in 80-bit extended floating point aims to reduce accumulation errors and preserve filter precision, especially when stacking multiple bands or working with high gain and Q. The result: an EQ designed to remain stable, clean, and usable in demanding contexts (masters with high dynamics, fine corrections in the low spectrum, or tight adjustments on harmonics).

FAT: double sampling for clean high-frequency work

PSP MasterQ2 features the proprietary "Frequency Authentication Technique" (FAT), based on a double sampling method. This approach is designed to improve filter behavior at the highest frequencies, while using high-order linear filters to limit phase errors and linear errors within the audio band. The idea is to benefit from oversampling advantages without introducing artifacts related to sample rate conversion.

Compatibility and high sample rates

The plug-in can operate across a wide range of sample rates: the engine is designed to run from 44.1 kHz up to 768 kHz, with official support indicated from 44.1 to 192 kHz according to specifications. This operating margin suits both standard projects and high-resolution production environments.
