What PSP PreQursor 3 Is Used For

PSP PreQursor 3 is a parametric equalizer plug-in designed for mixing and track processing on both acoustic sources (vocals, guitars, piano, strings) and modern productions (drums, synths, group buses). It allows you to correct resonances, clarify an arrangement, sculpt attack and presence, or balance a light master bus, all while maintaining a natural feel and clean signal definition.

Thanks to its Left, Right, Mid, and Side processing modes, it also perfectly adapts to advanced stereo mixing needs: refocusing the low end, opening up a more airy high end, or controlling harshness only on the sides without affecting the center.

Main Features

PSP Low-Resonance Filters: Precision and Musicality

The core of PreQursor 3 relies on filters specifically designed to offer low resonance peaks. The result: cleaner corrections, reduced unwanted ringing, and better clarity when applying narrow cuts. In practice, this helps achieve surgical cuts that remain natural, especially useful on acoustic takes or busy buses.

The four filters behave like bell-type filters when boosting, with progressive Q factors. This approach enhances the sense of musical control: you can emphasize a presence or brightness area without making the sound artificial, while maintaining a consistent response across the entire frequency range.

Flexible Workflow: Mid/Side, Double Precision, and Character Control

PreQursor 3 offers four parametric EQ bands, a high-pass filter, and an internal 64-bit double precision architecture to minimize cumulative errors and preserve realistic filter behavior, even when stacking multiple instances in a project. For dense sessions, this is a real comfort: the EQ remains stable, clean, and predictable.

The advanced analog modeling (preamp and filter nonlinearities) can be enabled per instance or globally per group of instances, allowing quick dialing of "console patina" on a selection of tracks or across the entire mix. To go further, the SAT (saturation) output option can add slight density and help prevent downstream digital clipping, while imparting a soft color to heavily driven signals.

31-Band Analyzer: Quick Decisions

The built-in 31-band analyzer offers bar display with an optional spectrum curve mode. Ideal for spotting energy build-ups (low-mids, sibilance, harshness) and visually validating a correction without losing track of the mix.
