What PSP Xenon Is For

PSP Xenon is a limiting plug-in designed for mastering and all stages where precision is paramount: mix finalization, stem mastering, master bus, or peak control on a subgroup. Its clear goal is to enable loudness maximization without degrading the character of the track, preserving transient impact and limiting typical artifacts of aggressive limiting.

Thanks to its "mastering-grade" approach, Xenon is aimed at both mastering engineers and producers/mixers seeking a solid, modern, and competitive sound while maintaining a clear workflow. It is particularly suited for styles where density and level stability are critical (pop, rock, hip-hop, electronic, soundtracks) but remains transparent enough for more dynamic projects if you favor light and controlled limiting.

Main Features

Two-stage Limiting: More Control, Fewer Side Effects

PSP Xenon is based on a two-stage full-band limiter architecture. This design allows for a smarter distribution of gain reduction work than a single limiter, achieving a high final level with a natural feel. The result: better stability on dense passages while maintaining a clean response on attacks and percussive elements.

Integrated Leveler: Preparing the Signal for More Consistent Loudness

The built-in leveler helps homogenize the level upstream. In practice, this facilitates achieving a consistent result throughout the track: less pumping, fewer surprises between verse and chorus, and limiting that works in a more musical way. This is a valuable asset when you want to increase loudness without crushing the groove feel.

K-System Metering: More Reliable Mastering Decisions

The K-System metering section provides a relevant measurement framework to work on gain, monitor headroom, and align your choices with consistent mastering practices. This approach helps avoid level excesses and better interpret the relationship between peaks, average level, and perceived power, especially during fine adjustments on the master bus.

Psychoacoustically Optimized Word-Length Reduction

Xenon incorporates a psychoacoustically optimized word-length reduction designed for the final rendering phase when you need to adjust resolution. The goal is to preserve detail and signal cleanliness during conversions, minimizing perceived noise and maintaining a sense of definition.

High-Precision Processing and Studio Compatibility

With 64-bit precision processing throughout the signal path and support for sample rates up to 192 kHz, PSP Xenon is built for demanding sessions. Its design balances audio quality and ergonomics: you get straight to the result, with transparent behavior encouraging adjustments by tenths of a dB, typical of a true mastering chain.
