Essential Information About the Radial HDI Direct Box

  • Studio quality designed to capture a rich and detailed signal, with a great sense of "cleanliness" and dynamics.

  • High-end Jensen transformers for reliable and musical DI conversion, ideal for recording and reamping.

  • "Color" control to shape the character and explore a sonic palette ranging from very neutral to more colored tones.

  • Session-oriented ergonomics: VU meter, direct controls (level, presence), and multiple outputs to adapt to studio and live setups.

A DI/preamp in the spirit of studio standards, built for long-term work

The Radial HDI follows the tradition of studio tools designed to be transparent when desired, while remaining capable of delivering a distinctive sonic signature when the production calls for it. Its approach is based on a "high fidelity" foundation (conversion and headroom oriented towards recording) combined with a touch of personality thanks to the "Color" control. The goal is simple: to provide a reliable entry point for your instruments, ready to deliver usable takes effortlessly, whether you are in a home studio, control room, or a more demanding setup.

For which musicians and uses?

The Radial HDI is aimed at musicians, producers, sound engineers, and studios who want to get the best out of an instrument without relying solely on plugins or post-processing. It is particularly suitable for direct recording of bass, guitar, keyboards, synths, drum machines, and electronic sources, but also for any situation where you want to secure a stable and controlled signal before audio conversion. Thanks to its session-oriented design, it facilitates work during sessions: you control the level, visually monitor the signal, and adjust presence to better place the instrument in the mix right from the recording stage.

Functions and sonic character: from pure signal to "produced" signal

Jensen transformers: a solid foundation for faithful capture

At the heart of the Radial HDI, the Jensen transformers contribute to precise and coherent reproduction, especially appreciated when preserving attack, low end, and micro-details of playing. This architecture helps achieve high-quality DI conversion, with a sense of depth and sustain noticeable on instruments rich in transients (fingerstyle bass, slap, dynamic keyboards) or on signals with high amplitude. Result: fewer "fix-up" corrections and more confident creative decisions.

"Color" control: an immediate sonic palette

The "Color" control is designed as a shaping tool: it allows you to go beyond a simple neutral DI by offering a sonic character that is both fresh and familiar. Depending on your instrument and context (pop, rock, funk, electro, voice processed through instrument, etc.), you can maintain maximum neutrality or, conversely, steer the texture to gain presence, thickness, or impact. It's a quick way to get a "ready-to-produce" sound while remaining sufficiently controllable to integrate into a broader recording chain.

Controls, VU meter, and connectivity: efficiency in studio and on stage

The Radial HDI includes a preamp and offers simple and relevant controls: level to adjust the gain, and presence to refine articulation and clarity. The VU meter provides real comfort during recording: it helps avoid surprises, secures levels, and offers an instant reference to reproduce a take under identical conditions. Regarding outputs, the presence of 2 XLR outputs and a 6.35mm Jack output offers practical options to route to a console, audio interface, or equipment chain according to your workflow habits.
