A Compact Version in the Lineage of Radial Preamps
The PZ-Deluxe is often considered the "little sister" of the PZ PRE: it carries the Radial DNA (low noise, wide dynamic range, roadworthy construction) in a more compact format, easier to integrate on a pedalboard. The goal is clear: to maintain a very faithful instrument sound while offering essential stage functions to manage level, amplification, and common acoustic instrument issues (piezo matching, boomy lows, feedback, phase).
Who Is the PZ-Deluxe For and In What Contexts?
The Radial PZ-Deluxe is aimed at demanding acoustic guitarists, but also musicians playing instruments often tricky to amplify: double bass, mandolin, violin, or any instrument equipped with a piezo pickup or electro-acoustic system. It suits both advanced amateurs and professionals, as its approach is "plug and play" while remaining very precise when it comes to correcting room acoustics, stage monitors, or recording setups.
In live settings, it allows sending a clean DI to the front of house while keeping a dedicated output for a stage amp or personal monitoring system. In the studio, it is an excellent entry point for capturing a clean acoustic signal, with fine mid control to place the instrument without altering its character.

The PZB mode raises the input impedance to 10 MOhms and adds up to +10 dB of gain for piezo pickups. This adjustment helps maintain a more consistent low-end response.
How to connect the PZ-Deluxe to a mixing console and an acoustic amp?
The connectivity includes an XLR DI output for the front of house and a "amp out" jack output for a monitor amplifier. A separate tuner jack output is also provided. The input jack to XLR output gain reaches +21 dB with the PZB disabled.
How to reduce feedback with this acoustic preamp?
To control resonances, the pedal features a 3-position high-pass filter and a phase inversion switch. The 3-band EQ includes a semi-parametric midrange with adjustable frequency to target problem areas.
What power supply is required for the Radial PZ-Deluxe?
A 15 V center-positive power supply is required, with a current draw of 400 mA.
Can the boost and tuner be used on stage?
A footswitchable Boost provides up to +13 dB to increase level during a solo. The Mute function cuts the signal during tuning via the dedicated tuner output.
