A modern delay inspired by classic digital units (version 2, even more creative)

The Raster 2 follows in the footsteps of digital delays capable of going beyond simple repetition by integrating pitch and frequency processing directly into the feedback. While the original Raster was appreciated for its immediacy, this version 2 maintains direct control (parameters always accessible) while adding more flexible modulation and a significantly enriched stereo field. The result: it captures the spirit of classic rack delay "tricks" but in a pedal format designed for playing, manipulating, and improvising.

Who the Raster 2 makes a difference for, and in which styles

The Red Panda Raster 2 is aimed at guitarists (and more broadly musicians on synths, drum machines, or bass) who want an expressive and unconventional delay without sacrificing precision. In ambient, post-rock, electronic, experimental, shoegaze, or film music, it excels at creating evolving soundscapes, reversed pads, and modulated textures. In more "classic" contexts (rock, pop, indie), it can stay subtle: a simple micro pitch, a slight stereo offset for widening, and your sound gains a very personal signature.

Controls, modes, and connectivity: a stereo toolbox (without unnecessary menus)

The Raster 2 combines 6 knobs and 9 switches to shape delay, feedback, tone, and pitch and modulation behaviors. The delay can be forward or reverse, and pitch shifting can be done in single steps or continuously offset repeats for rising, falling, or "on the edge" auto-oscillations. The feedback is calibrated to go from controlled echoes to infinite repeats, then into textured chaos when pushed further.

On the modulation side, you have 7 waveform shapes, plus an envelope and an inverted envelope. Modulation can be assigned to delay time, pitch, or level (tremolo), with stereo options to adjust the phase between channels: perfect for moving from subtle motion to psychedelic whirlpools. The two footswitches can operate in momentary or latching mode to trigger pitch "hits," echo bursts, or manage a tap tempo depending on assignment. The soft-touch bypass also offers a mute mode and an option to cut output in bypass while still listening, ideal for capturing and then manipulating what you just played.

The pedal supports stereo input/output via 6.35mm TRS jacks, an expression pedal, and assignable remote controls (switch, remote tap, or MIDI port). Full MIDI implementation (USB or TRS) grants access to additional parameters, MIDI clock synchronization, and extended presets. An editor allows preset editing and access to hidden parameters, including a forward delay up to 3200 ms.

Sound

The heart of the Raster 2 is a very clean digital delay, with excellent attack definition and behavior that remains clear even when repeats become complex. The tone control allows shifting from darker echoes (an "analog-like" reminiscence) to sharp digital clarity, and to emphasize attack to highlight picking or transients. The pitch section is particularly inspiring: in micro-detune mode, it provides a subtle and lively chorus; in tuned offset (by semitones), it produces harmonizations, synchronized arpeggios, and strange "organ" effects. Pushing the phase/frequency shifter combination yields repeats that disintegrate, flirt with ring modulation, and create "barber pole" illusions for textures that seem never-ending.
