A Revisited "Magnetic Tape" Approach for the Modern Pedalboard
The Red Panda Tensor follows the lineage of effects inspired by tape manipulations: reverse playback, abrupt stops, speed variations, and "rewriting" time. Where a tape machine imposes mechanics, the Tensor gives you these gestures live, at your feet, with precision and flexibility designed for stage and studio. Within the Red Panda range, it is the pedal dedicated to time-warp effects and temporal illusions: a hybrid tool between pitch shifter, time stretcher, and experimental looper, designed to create transitions, textures, and controlled accidents.
Who Is It For, Which Styles, and In What Contexts?
The Tensor speaks to guitarists (and more broadly musicians) who enjoy sculpting time: post-rock, ambient, shoegaze, experimental, indie, electronic, sound design, but also alternative rock whenever instant reverse, rhythmic stutters, or vinyl-style "stops" are sought. It is suitable from intermediate level (for simple reverse and clean tape stops) and becomes formidable for advanced users who want to sync, sequence, recall settings, and build full performances via MIDI.
Live, it shines for creating breaks, phrase endings folding back on themselves, or latency-free reverse restarts thanks to the "always listening" principle (you can rewind what you just played). In the studio, it is an idea machine: layers, micro-loops, stepped pitch, stretch without changing pitch, and very expressive speed variations.

Questions frequently asked
Does the Red Panda Tensor allow real-time reverse and tape stop effects?
Reverse, stop, and forward speeds are accessible in real time. The "always listening" principle enables instant rewind of what was just played when switching from bypass to effect.
What is the available loop duration on this pedal?
The maximum duration reaches 9.4 seconds in mono and 4.7 seconds in stereo. Three modes are offered: overdub, replace, and dual buffer (next). Playback can be set to forward, alternate, or reverse.
Can the speed be changed without altering the pitch?
Real-time time stretching can achieve a 4:1 ratio. Loop stretching or compressing covers a range from 1:4 to 4:1, while pitch shifting operates separately from -2 to +2 octaves in fixed intervals.
What audio and MIDI connectivity is available?
Stereo input and output use TRS connectors. The USB MIDI port provides MIDI in/out functions, including parameter control, preset recall, and automation.
Can an expression pedal control the Tensor?
An assignable expression/CV input accepts a range from 0 to 3.3 V. Both footswitches can operate in momentary or latching mode depending on the desired trigger type.
