Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range
The Emperor series is a classic choice for drummers seeking more control and durability than a single-ply head. The Smooth White finish offers an alternative to traditional coated heads, providing a consistent feel and a sleek aesthetic while maintaining precise response.
Who This Drumhead Is For
This 14-inch head is suitable for beginner to advanced drummers looking for a more focused sound and a head that can withstand rehearsals and gigs. It is especially well-suited for rock, pop, fusion, and contexts where a clean, controlled stroke is desired.
Features and Innovations
Thanks to its 2 plies of 7.5 mil, the Remo Emperor Smooth White delivers a firmer feel, better tuning stability, and a more even response. It is marketed as ideal for toms and bass drum applications, and its 14-inch size also makes it relevant as a snare drumhead depending on the tuning preferences.
Sound Characteristics
The double thickness promotes a present midrange, a more pronounced attack, and naturally shorter sustain, which helps maintain a clean sound at high volumes. The Smooth White surface contributes to clear articulation and controlled projection, ideal for precise chords and dynamic playing.
