Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The "Controlled Sound" heads have become a reference for drummers seeking a more controlled snare drum with a balance between attack, warmth, and control, without excessive muffling.
Target Audience for This Drum/Instrument
This head is aimed at beginner to advanced drummers who want a simple and reliable tuning, particularly suited for rock, pop, funk, gospel, studio, and live settings, when aiming for a precise and focused snare sound.
Features and Innovations
The combination of sanding + black dot placed underneath provides increased definition at the impact point while maintaining a natural feel under the stick and consistent rimshot response.
Sound Characteristics
The sanding gives a warmer grain and a slightly softened attack. The black dot underneath tightens the sound, reduces high harmonics, and promotes a shorter sustain and a punchier center, ideal for a snare that "cracks" without bleeding over.
