Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The Powersonic belongs to the family of bass drum heads focused on punch and resonance control. It aims for a mix-ready sound with less need for additional external muffling solutions, while maintaining a natural playing feel.
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
This 20-inch bass drum head is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced drummers seeking a controlled sound in rehearsal, on stage, or in the studio. It adapts very well to styles where the bass drum needs to remain clear: rock, pop, funk, worship, variety, and live contexts with sound reinforcement.
Features and Innovations
The internal rings reduce unwanted resonances and refocus energy on useful low frequencies for a tighter kick. The external harmonic muffler allows adjustment of sustain levels without choking the bass drum, and the Falam Slam extends the head's lifespan while adding a more precise attack under the beater.
Sound
The transparent finish promotes a more direct response, with a crisp attack and effective projection, ideal for maintaining definition in the mix. Thanks to harmonic control, the low end remains compact, with shorter sustain and a well-centered "kick" feel, especially appreciated on a 20-inch bass drum.

Questions frequently asked
Is this Remo Powersonic drumhead compatible with a 20-inch bass drum?
A 20-inch diameter corresponds to bass drums designed to accept drumheads of this size.
What sound does a transparent Powersonic bass drumhead produce?
The transparent finish promotes a direct response and a sharp attack. The low frequencies remain focused thanks to harmonic control. The sustain is shorter for a centered bass drum impact.
Is the Remo PW-1320-00 a double-ply drumhead?
The double-ply construction provides a design suited to a bass drumhead aimed at a tight and controlled sound.
How do internal rings affect the sound of the bass drum?
Internal rings reduce unwanted resonances and refocus energy on the useful low frequencies. This enhances the kick's clarity in the mix.
Is the Falam Slam included on this bass drumhead?
A Falam Slam is present under the striking area to extend the drumhead's lifespan. This element also adds a more precise attack upon beater contact. The external harmonic muffler allows adjustment of sustain levels without filling the bass drum.
