From the "Green" Channel of the Generator 120 to Your Pedalboard: The Revv Spirit in Pedal Format
The Revv G series translates the DNA of the Generator 120 amp channels into analog form, with a clear philosophy: to offer a true preamp experience in pedal format without losing the touch or musicality of a circuit designed as an "amp".
This v2 version benefits from a major circuit revision, the result of several years of development at Revv. The outcome: a livelier feel under the fingers, with more resonance, sustain, and that slight sag that makes playing more expressive, regardless of the gain level.
Who Is the Revv G2 v2 For?
The G2 v2 is an ideal pedal if you're looking for a high-end crunch/overdrive base capable of covering many styles: pop, modern blues, rock, indie, worship, country, up to heavier rock with a well-controlled attack.
It suits both guitarists who want to thicken a clean tone with natural break-up and those seeking a main pedal for punchy rhythms and singing leads. In the studio, it fits easily into a mix thanks to its EQ; live, it remains clear and responsive even at higher volumes.
Controls, Modes, and Integration: Designed Like a True Amp Channel
The Revv G2 v2 offers a full set of controls: Gain for saturation amount, Volume for output level, and a very practical 3-band EQ (Bass/Middle/Treble) to tailor the pedal to your amp, cabinet, or simulation.
At the center, the 3-position Drive selector (Off/Blue/Red) does more than just add gain: it changes the voice and behavior of the pedal. Off favors a more open and controlled crunch, Blue emphasizes a very musical dynamic and break-up, while Red delivers a denser and more "pushed" feel, perfect for thick rhythms and fuller solos.
Regarding integration, the G2 v2 works very well in front of an amp (as an overdrive/amp-in-a-box) but can also be used in the effects loop as a preamp to drive the loop return directly. Its true bypass preserves your tone when the effect is off.
The Sound
The G2 v2 stands out with a clear, warm, and responsive crunch, offering excellent note definition. The grain remains articulate even as gain increases, and the attack retains that "amp-like" quality that immediately responds to pick dynamics and guitar volume.
Its character is decidedly versatile: it can stay fairly open and dynamic for articulate rhythms or become thicker and more sustainy depending on the Drive mode selected. Renowned guitarists known for their modern and refined tones have been seen using the G2, such as Rabea Massaad, Dave Baksh, Pete Thorn, and Tyler Larson, proving its effectiveness in very different rigs.

Questions frequently asked
What sound does the Revv G2 V2 offer?
Derived from the Green channel of the Generator 120, it delivers a warm crunch with note definition string by string. The analog v2 circuit provides more resonance, sustain, and a slight sag in response.
What are the Off, Blue, and Red modes for?
The 3-position Drive selector changes the voice and amount of saturation. Off favors an open crunch, Blue emphasizes musical break-up, while Red brings a thicker density for heavy rhythms and solos.
Can it be used in an amplifier's effects loop?
This pedal can be placed in the effects loop as a preamp to drive the return. It can also be used in front of an amp as an overdrive or amp simulator.
What power supply is required for the G2 V2?
A 9 V DC power supply is required, with a 2.1 x 5.5 mm barrel plug and negative center polarity. The current draw is 14 mA and battery operation is not supported.
What equalization settings are available?
The 3-band equalizer Bass, Middle, and Treble allows adaptation of the sound response to an amp, speaker cabinet, or simulation. Gain and Volume controls complete the management of saturation level and output.
