A Logical Evolution in the RME M-Series Range, Designed for Network Audio

The 12Mic-D continues RME's professional solutions dedicated to multi-channel environments and network audio infrastructures. It retains the sonic approach of the existing 12Mic, announced as acoustically identical, while positioning itself as an alternative tailored for workflows where network distribution and compatibility with studio and broadcast standards are priorities.

Where the 12Mic excels in an AVB configuration, the 12Mic-D emphasizes direct MADI and Dante integration, making it a particularly relevant choice for quickly connecting preamp racks to a control room, console, stage system, or IP infrastructure without multiplying external boxes.

A 12-Channel Preamplifier for Studios, Live Recordings, Broadcast, and Fixed Installations

Designed as a true "hub" of inputs, the RME 12Mic-D suits recording studios wanting to centralize 12 mic inputs with careful conversion, as well as live sound providers and broadcast control rooms needing a reliable, rack-mountable front-end that is quick to deploy. The presence of front-panel inputs, a headphone output, and an LCD screen facilitates adjustments on site, even when main control is remote.

The first four inputs also accept jacks and offer a switchable Hi-Z: convenient for directly recording guitar, bass, or instrument-level sources without an external DI. On the other hand, the network and digital connectivity allow sending channels to multiple destinations (recording, monitors, broadcast) depending on your studio or stage architecture.

Features and Performance: Conversion, Digital Control, and Internal Routing

Preamps Without PAD, Generous Gain, and Comfortable Headroom

The microphone input stages operate without PAD attenuators and offer a gain range up to 75 dB, while accepting signals up to +18 dBu. This combination allows handling everything from low-level dynamic microphones to louder sources without losing control. Digital gain control simplifies session recalls and integration in environments where settings must remain consistent day to day.

Studio-Quality Conversion and High Signal-to-Noise Ratio

The 12Mic-D emphasizes conversion quality, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 121.2 dB(A) specified across all channels. For the user, this translates to very low background noise and excellent clarity of recordings, a crucial point when stacking tracks (multi-mic drums, ensembles, layered vocals) or working with delicate and dynamic sources.

Integrated Routing Matrix and SteadyClock FS Synchronization

The integrated routing matrix provides appreciated flexibility to distribute signals to different output formats and organize a coherent virtual patch without relying solely on the computer or console. The SteadyClock FS clock enhances synchronization stability, especially in systems where multiple digital devices must share a common timing (racks, converters, consoles, recorders).
