HDSPe AIO Pro: The "Pro" Evolution of an RME Reference for Studio Integration

Designed for demanding workstations, the HDSPe AIO Pro follows the RME tradition: an internal PCIe audio interface engineered for stability, controlled latency, and versatility in the studio. This "Pro" version emphasizes conversion quality and integration into diverse environments, with a design directly derived from the ADI-2 Pro for the AD/DA section. RME also enhances reference level management to facilitate adaptation to various audio chains, while improving the output stage with a dedicated attenuator.

Who Benefits from the HDSPe AIO Pro and for What Uses?

The RME HDSPe AIO Pro targets producers, sound engineers, and composers who want a PCIe sound card reliable for a studio computer, with comprehensive connectivity and advanced routing. It is particularly relevant if you need to combine multiple formats (analog, ADAT, AES/EBU, SPDIF, MIDI) within the same machine, while maintaining solid headphone monitoring and level management suited for pro gear. Thanks to the ability to use all inputs and outputs simultaneously, it integrates well into setups for recording, reamping, external summing, or post-production.

Conversion, Reference Levels, and Monitoring: A Precision-Oriented Approach

Converters Derived from the ADI-2 Pro

The HDSPe AIO Pro relies on the reference converters AK5572 (AD) and 2 x AK4490 (DA), stemming from the ADI-2 Pro's conversion approach. The goal is clear: coherent, stable, and transparent conversion, meeting the demands of a modern studio where definition, perceived dynamics, and reliability are paramount in both tracking and mixing.

Extended Reference Levels for Easier Integration

To adapt to various studio level standards, the analog input range follows the ADI-2 Pro's circuit design with multiple levels (+24 / +19 / +13 / +4 dBu). On the output side, RME goes further by adding additional reference levels: balanced (+24 / +19 / +13 / +4 dBu) and unbalanced (+19 / +13 / +4 / -2 dBu). The result: you can fine-tune your gain staging according to your devices (preamps, consoles, external processors, active monitors) without having to "jury-rig" attenuations downstream.

Dedicated Attenuator and Next-Generation Headphone Output

The output section includes a dedicated attenuator: at low reference levels, this contributes to an increased signal-to-noise ratio and lower output impedance, useful for maintaining a clean and controlled listening experience. Another highlight is the newly developed headphone output, both powerful and highly transparent, with switchable levels (high and low power). The mute relay, also present on the analog outputs, helps prevent power-up noises during computer startup-a real plus in daily production environments.

TotalMix, SteadyClock FS, and Advanced Synchronization

RME includes TotalMix, a routing mixer renowned for its flexibility, to create monitoring paths and signal distributions tailored to your session. The SteadyClock FS technology enhances clock stability and aims for maximum jitter suppression when using an external clock. Finally, the HDSPe AIO Pro supports an optional TCO for timecode synchronization (LTC / video), an asset for certain post-production and audiovisual synchronization workflows.
