Roland LX-9: The Pinnacle of the LX Range, Designed as a "Domesticated" Concert Piano

The Roland LX-9 holds the position of flagship model in the LX range: it concentrates the brand's Piano Reality technologies to bring the experience closer to that of an acoustic grand piano, while retaining the advantages of digital. Its concept is clear: a large upright piano cabinet, refined details (discreet touch panel, adjustable lid open or closed), and a sound approach that adapts equally well to a living room or a workspace, without the tuning constraints of a traditional piano.

Keyboard Design

The Hybrid Grand keyboard (88 keys) with progressive hammer action aims to provide a feel close to a grand piano, featuring escapement for better control of pianissimo and repetitions, and a long pivot length that stabilizes the touch even when playing far from the key center. The hybrid wood and molded material keys with "Ebony/Ivory Feel" surface (ivory and ebony type) enhance grip and the "acoustic instrument" sensation. The High Precision Sensing technology refines velocity detection, and haptic vibrations add subtle physical feedback, useful for regaining interpretive and control cues.

Sound Quality

The Piano Reality Modeling engine generates a rich grand piano sound, with complex harmonics and an organic response to playing nuances. In practice, the LX-9 accompanies you from pianissimo to fortissimo with very natural musical continuity, and offers unlimited polyphony for solo play on sounds in the "Piano" category (and 256 voices for other sounds). The library includes 324 sounds in total (grand pianos, uprights, classical pianos, electric pianos, organs, and more). On the sound projection side, the Piano Reality Projection system combines advanced audio processing and 8 speakers including a dedicated center channel, to project the different components of the timbre (attack, resonances, cabinet body) and create a real sense of space, even at moderate volume.
