The MetroLine Vintage J Bass continues Sadowsky's vision: the sound and ergonomics of a timeless "J" bass, enhanced by ultra-musical proprietary electronics. Produced in Germany, this 5-string version retains the spirit of the New York models while offering exemplary manufacturing consistency for stage and studio use.

For Which Bassists and Styles?

Due to its comfort and versatility, this bass is aimed at intermediate to professional bassists. Thanks to the 5 strings (low B) and 19 mm spacing, it excels in funk/slap, jazz, pop, rock, R&B, and gospel. The pickup balance allows quick switching from a warm "neck" tone to a more articulate "bridge" sound.

Tone

The swamp ash provides clarity and firm lows, while the maple (neck/fingerboard) adds attack and excellent sustain. The two hum-cancelling J-Style pickups deliver the classic "Jazz Bass" character without unwanted noise. The Sadowsky 2-band preamp offers a very musical bass and treble boost; the VTC (Vintage Tone Control) acts as a passive tone control to soften the highs, both in active and passive modes. A push/pull on the VTC bypasses the preamp for a more organic sound and total security in case of low battery. The Sadowsky quick-release bridge and 19 mm spacing enhance projection and precision, especially for slap playing.
