A Signature Model Designed for Precision: The Place of the KM-6 MK-III Artist in the Range
The Keith Merrow KM-6 MK-III Artist completes the collection of signature models dedicated to high-demand playing. With its neck-through construction and performance-oriented choices (stability, upper fret access, reliable components), it aims for a clear result: a guitar that remains precise at high gain while maintaining a smooth and immediate feel under the fingers.
For Whom and Which Styles?
This 6-string electric guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking an instrument comfortable in modern metal, djent, prog, metalcore, as well as powerful rock requiring tight rhythms. Its thin neck and optimized access to the highest frets make it an excellent base for fast playing, wide stretches, and high-pitched solos, while remaining solid for standard tunings.
Sound
The combination of a mahogany body and a flamed maple top provides a very effective balance: dense mids and a warm foundation from the mahogany, with a sharper attack and better definition thanks to the maple. The neck-through construction promotes generous sustain and a consistent response across the entire neck, enhanced by the Hipshot hardtail bridge (stability, vibration transfer, tuning stability). The two Lundgren M6 humbuckers deliver a tight and punchy sound: precise and cutting rhythms at the bridge, and controlled thickness for leads at the neck. The electronics are intentionally straightforward with a volume control and a 3-position selector, ideal for quickly switching between tones without complication.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The guitar comes equipped with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 2221 (.010-.046) strings, a versatile gauge for rock/metal playing in standard tuning. A hard case SGR-1C is available sold separately as an option.
