A PT Special Designed for "Good Old Rock'n'Roll"
In Schecter's Retro Collection, the PT Special stands as a deliberate nod to the guitars that shaped rock history. Vintage look, classic finishes, and meticulous details, but with the extra precision that the brand is known for: stable hardware, practical electronics, and consistent feel, both on stage and at home.
For Which Guitarist and Styles?
This 6-string electric guitar is especially aimed at beginner to intermediate guitarists who want a truly characterful guitar that is simple to set up and effective, as well as advanced players seeking a direct and inspiring instrument. It excels in rock, blues-rock, indie, and any style requiring precise rhythm, singing leads, and good pick dynamics.
The Sound
The swamp ash body generally provides a quick response, great definition, and a lively tone, ideal for sharp attacks and rhythms that stand out in the mix. The bolt-on maple neck combined with the rosewood fingerboard balances clarity and warmth, with a snappy feel and good note-to-note articulation.
On the electronics side, the S/H configuration offers a wide palette: the single-coil neck pickup (Schecter Diamond V-90) favors transparency and bite, while the bridge humbucker (Schecter Diamond VT-1) delivers higher output and density for riffs. The push-pull series/parallel adds true versatility: in parallel, the sound opens up and gains clarity, while in series it becomes thicker and more impactful.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The guitar comes factory-strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 2221 (10-46 gauge), an excellent starting point to maintain balance between playing comfort, intonation, and attack. A gig bag or case is available as an option: SGR-UNIVERSAL GUITAR (sold separately).
