A Super Shredder in the spirit of modern "superstrats"
The Sun Valley Super Shredder follows the tradition of guitars designed for virtuosity: fast neck, 24 frets, and double-locking vibrato, all with a decidedly metal identity. Within the Schecter range, it is a performance and stage-oriented platform, built to handle heavy chords, tight palm mutes, and expressive vibrato techniques. Depending on the series variations, there is also a Sustainiac option, ideal for infinitely sustaining notes.
For whom and for which styles?
This guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a precise and stable instrument for fast playing. It excels in heavy metal, modern hard rock, metalcore, shred, and all styles requiring a sharp attack, good clarity under gain, and a Floyd Rose vibrato for effects (dive bombs, wide vibratos, harmonics). The thin profile and 24 frets also make it an excellent companion for technical leads and playing high up the neck.
The sound
The mahogany body provides a solid foundation, with present mids and a sense of density that helps riffs stay thick under heavy saturation. The maple neck adds attack and precision, particularly appreciated for fast alternate picking and artificial harmonics. The EMG RetroActive dual humbuckers deliver a modern, powerful, and very clear sound, with an output level suited for heavy distortions. The simple and effective electronics (3-position selector, Volume/Volume) allow quick switching from the warmer neck pickup to the sharper bridge pickup. The 9V battery power supply ensures stable and consistent operation.
Recommended compatible accessories
To stay true to the original spirit, this guitar is strung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky 2222 (.009-.046): a versatile choice to maintain comfort for leads while keeping tension for rhythm playing. If you are looking for a suitable transport solution, the guitar is announced as compatible with an SGR-1C gig bag/case (sold separately). Also, consider having a spare 9V battery for the electronics.
