A Bass in the "Diamond" Spirit: Versatility and Personality
With its performance-oriented craftsmanship and electronics designed to cover multiple ranges, this Diamond Custom Bass fits a modern approach: an instrument capable of shifting from a dense, muscular tone to more snappy and articulated textures without changing basses. The Gloss White finish and "Blocks" inlays reinforce this positioning: a bold look, ready for both stage and studio.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
This bass is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a flexible and comfortable 4-string, suitable both for working on right-hand precision and holding a dense mix. It is well suited for rock, pop, funk, metal, gospel, and studio contexts where multiple tonal colors are needed: the blend control allows adjusting the pickup balance, and the mini-toggle switches provide immediate variations to switch from a more modern sound to a more "vintage" and edgy register.
Sound
The mahogany body provides a warm foundation, with present lows and generous low mids, ideal for laying down a solid base. The bolt-on maple neck and maple fingerboard add attack and clarity, particularly appreciated on slaps, fast passages, and lines that need to remain defined in a busy mix. On the electronics side, the bass combines two pickups (Schecter USA M-25 and Schecter USA J-25) controlled by Volume, Blend, and Tone, with mini-switches to expand the spectrum: a 3-position selector for the bridge pickup modes series / split / parallel, and a 2-position selector for the coil tap on the neck pickup. The result is a palette ranging from a compact and powerful sound to more open, airy, and biting tones.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original feel, you can opt for the same set of strings: Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long 2849 (.045-.105). A gig bag/case is also recommended by the manufacturer as an option: SGR-UNIVERSAL BASS.
