A Signature Model Tailored for the Demands of Modern Metal
The Schecter Tao is the signature model of John Browne, a guitarist known for his surgical rhythms and percussive textures. Within the Schecter range, it positions itself as a performance-oriented electric guitar: playing ergonomics, premium hardware, and efficient electronics, all serving a modern and clear sound, even under heavy saturation.
For Whom and Which Styles?
This 6-string electric guitar is aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a sharp attack, a fast neck, and great tuning stability. It excels in modern metal, prog, djent, metalcore, but remains relevant in energetic rock and defined clean tones thanks to its electronic options and precise craftsmanship.
The Sound
The ash body delivers a crisp response, tight low end, and well-defined mids, while the flamed maple veneer enhances clarity and definition. The multi-laminate maple/paduak neck promotes stability and quick attack, and the ebony fingerboard adds precision, ideal for palm-muting and technical playing. On the amplification side, the Schecter USA Colossus and USA Chaosbreaker humbuckers provide a powerful and detailed output: tight saturations, easy harmonics, and excellent note separation. The 3-position selector and push-pull volume allow quick shifts from massive tones to more airy textures depending on your setup.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The guitar comes factory-strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 2221 (.010-.046): you can keep this gauge to preserve the balance and feel intended by the model. The gig bag/case is optional: SGR-1C sold separately.
