Schecter has established itself as a Rock/Metal reference, but its roots go back to late 1970s California, with models featuring Standard and Vintage aesthetics. The Ultra III fits into this tradition: a confidently "retro-cool" design while integrating pickup configuration and ergonomics designed for both stage and studio.

The Schecter Ultra III is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want an electric guitar with a strong style, capable of handling classic rock, indie, garage, muscular blues, and even more modern genres. With its splits, it can also deliver a thinner, snappier tone for defined rhythms, while retaining the power reserve expected from a double-coil guitar.
The Sound
The combination of a mahogany body + mahogany neck places the Ultra III in a warm sonic family, with present mids, dense lows, and natural sustain, perfect for crunches and thick saturations. The 3 Duncan Designed FG-101 humbuckers provide a full and balanced sound, with a solid foundation for power chords.
The highlight is the wiring: each pickup has an ON/OFF/SPLIT switch. You can activate one pickup, combine two, or thicken the signal with all three, then switch to split mode for airier, more biting textures. The 1 volume / 1 tone control setup remains intentionally simple and effective: quick to adjust, easy to play.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This Schecter comes stock with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 2221 10-46 strings: sticking to this gauge is an excellent choice to maintain balance between comfort, tuning stability, and vibrato response. For transport, a case is available as an option: SGR 11-UM ULTRA (sold separately).
