Summary of This Method

Designed for intermediate pianists, this method offers a progressive immersion into the distinctly marked rhythms of Latin America and Spain. You will explore a palette of styles from many countries: Cuba (son, montuno, mambo, bolero, danzon), Brazil (bossa nova, samba, baion, afoxe, frevo, chorinho), Argentina and Uruguay (tango, milonga, zamba, chacarera, candombe), Colombia (cumbia), Dominican Republic (merengue), and Spain (flamenco, rumba, buleria).

The collection includes over 50 pieces to perform, including several iconic titles such as Oye Como Va, Besame Mucho, El Manicero (The Peanut Vendor), Mambo No 5, Mas Que Nada, The Girl from Ipanema, Manha de Carnaval, A Media Luz, Alfonsina y El Mar, and Vals Venezolano 2. Original compositions by the authors complete the repertoire with a clear pedagogical goal: to strengthen rhythmic sense, stabilize offbeats, and gain hand independence.

Thanks to in-depth work on essential rhythmic cells (notably the clave, the montuno, and the partido alto ), this method helps achieve a more percussive touch, a more reliable pulse, and a more authentic interpretation, whether in lessons, self-study, or to enrich a modern piano repertoire.
