Historical background and position within the range
This model belongs to the Sela Harmony family. Its D Kurd 9+3 configuration stands out with an extended range, offering more possibilities than a layout limited to the nine main notes. It retains the direct approach of the acoustic handpan: the player shapes their performance through touch, striking precision and the way they allow the resonances to breathe.
Who this handpan is for
The Sela Harmony D Kurd 9+3 is suitable for percussionists and handpan enthusiasts who want an extended melodic range at their disposal. Beginners can gradually discover the fundamental techniques, while intermediate and advanced players can make use of the additional notes to develop their arrangements and vary their registers.
Its minor color naturally fits acoustic music, contemplative improvisations and cinematic atmospheres. It is also well suited to solo playing, where the alternation between low notes, melodic patterns and percussive strikes makes it possible to build a musical statement without accompaniment. However, the additional notes require some practice to be integrated smoothly.
