A Selmer Heritage: French Tradition and Contemporary Precision

Founded in 1885, the Henri SELMER Paris company initially gained recognition for producing reeds and mouthpieces before becoming an essential reference in the world of wind instruments. The Soloist mouthpiece continues this legacy by capturing the spirit of an iconic 1950s model while benefiting from current machining methods carried out in Selmer's factories in Mantes-la-Ville. The result: a mouthpiece with a strong character, but with consistency and precision particularly appreciated from one piece to another.

For Which Saxophonist and Styles?

The Henri SELMER Paris Soloist targets intermediate to advanced saxophonists seeking a responsive mouthpiece capable of maintaining intonation and stability across all dynamics. Its sonic aesthetic, "on the border" between two worlds, makes it an excellent choice for classical (focused sound, clean articulation) as well as for jazz and pop (warmth, ability to shape the timbre). It is also suitable for ensemble musicians (wind orchestra, big band) looking for controlled projection without sacrificing roundness.

Sound and Design

This Soloist is known for its very centered sound : the air column is easily placed, with a sensation of homogeneity across registers. The horseshoe chamber promotes a warm signature and rich density, while maintaining excellent clarity in the attack. The balance of intonation in the high and altissimo registers provides confidence on exposed passages, while the response in the low register remains clear and precise. With a D tip opening (1.75 mm) and a 24 mm facing length, it offers a comfortable compromise: enough control for precision, with room for nuance and color when adjusting the reed and embouchure.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

This mouthpiece is delivered with a mouthpiece patch. The ligature and mouthpiece cap are not included: be sure to choose a ligature and cap compatible with the exact brand and model of your saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) and with the mouthpiece size, to ensure stable tightening and consistent vibration.
