A SELMER Paris Heritage Serving a Mouthpiece That Has Become a Reference
Since 1885, Henri SELMER Paris has excelled in the manufacture of reeds and mouthpieces, before becoming an essential brand in the saxophone world. The Soloist fits within this tradition of high standards: a model directly inspired by a historic mouthpiece from the 1950s, whose sonic aesthetic has endured through the ages. Today, the digital machining processes deployed in Selmer's workshops in Mantes-la-Ville enhance production precision and stability, while preserving the musical identity that has made the brand renowned.
Who Is the SELMER Soloist For and Which Styles?
The Soloist mouthpiece is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced saxophonists seeking a controlled, clear, and flexible sound. Its balance makes it an excellent choice for classical music (clean projection, intonation, homogeneity) while remaining very relevant for jazz and pop styles for those who want a warm timbre and fine dynamic control, without falling into a sound that is too open or too "broad."
Sound and Design
The Soloist is designed around a horseshoe chamber, a key element in its signature: a centered, round, and homogeneous sound, with excellent intonation stability. The response remains comfortable, with a clear attack in the low register and a balanced response in the high and altissimo registers. Thanks to its design, this mouthpiece allows you to shape the color (softer, brighter, more projected) while maintaining excellent clarity, even at low dynamics.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To protect the table and maintain response consistency, it is recommended to add a ligature and a mouthpiece cap suitable for your saxophone and the shape of the mouthpiece (not included). The mouthpiece is delivered with a mouthpiece patch, useful for stabilizing the teeth placement and limiting wear.
