The S7 New Gen: a modern Super-ST at the heart of the Larry Carlton series
The Sire S7 New Gen is part of the Larry Carlton series with a clear goal: to preserve the DNA of "S"-type guitars while enhancing the reliability and playability expected today. It positions itself as a reliable choice within the Sire range, designed to handle rehearsals, concerts, and recordings with precise craftsmanship, solid hardware, and easy-to-use electronics.
For which guitarist and styles?
This Super-ST is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a responsive instrument comfortable in various genres. It excels in funk, pop, soul, blues, and classic rock, thanks to its very expressive "scooped" positions and clear attack. Serious beginners will also find an excellent foundation for progression: stable tuning, playing comfort, and effective setups for long practice sessions without struggling with the instrument.
Sound
The alder body provides a natural balance: clear mids, tight lows, and precise attack, ideal for clean rhythms as well as vintage crunch tones. The bolt-on maple neck enhances snap and responsiveness, while the rosewood fingerboard slightly rounds off the high end for a softer feel and silky tone.
The three single-coil Sire LC Super-ST pickups offer great clarity and dynamics highly sensitive to playing style. In positions 2 and 4, you get snappy and airy sounds perfect for funk and pop, while the neck pickup delivers singing, highly expressive blues lines. The whole setup remains straightforward to control thanks to simple electronics (1 volume, 1 tone, 5-position selector), designed for quick switching between tones without hassle.
