A V7 "Swamp Ash Reissue": The Jazz Spirit Revisited for the Stage
This M. Miller V7 Swamp Ash Reissue-4 features the Marcus Miller Jazz Shape silhouette combined with a decidedly modern approach: swamp ash craftsmanship and full active electronics, designed for bassists seeking an expressive, versatile instrument ready to stand out in a mix. The Tobacco Sunburst satin finish highlights the classic style while maintaining a modern touch.
For Which Bassist and Styles?
Thanks to its Jazz format and highly versatile preamp, this V7 is especially suited for intermediate to advanced bassists who want to cover many styles without multiplying instruments. It excels in funk (snappy slap), pop, and rock (present low-mids), but is also comfortable in jazz and fusion when articulation and dynamics are sought. The C-profile neck promotes quick handling for both technical lines and accompaniment.
The Sound
The swamp ash generally provides a lively response and good note separation, while the maple neck and maple fingerboard enhance clarity and attack, highly appreciated on a Jazz-style bass. The Marcus Super-J Revolution pickup set is designed to preserve the "J" grain (definition, growl, and precision), with excellent right-hand nuance response. The Marcus Heritage-3 preamp offers a wide range of shaping: bass for foundation, treble for brightness, and especially a mid control with frequency adjustment to precisely tailor the midrange area that should stand out in the mix. The Blender control allows fine blending of the two pickups, from a warm, full neck sound to a more aggressive and biting bridge tone.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To fully exploit the 34" / 864 mm scale length, a 4-string long scale bass string set is recommended. A standard strap will also suit playing standing up.
