The Marcus Miller M7 2nd Generation fits within the spirit of Sire's "performance" oriented basses: contemporary luthiery, refined playing ergonomics, and very comprehensive electronics. In this 6-string version, the M7 clearly targets bassists seeking an extended palette and precise control over tonal character, while maintaining a strong and balanced humbucking foundation.

Who Is It For, and What Styles?

This bass is especially aimed at intermediate to expert musicians who want a 6-string capable of performing in rehearsals, studios, and on stage. Its extended range and wiring options make it comfortable in demanding contexts: modern funk, fusion, gospel, R&B, pop, as well as rock and metal when a solid and well-defined low end is sought.

Tone

The combination of alder and solid flamed maple provides a balanced foundation: firm lows, clear mids, and a more defined attack, useful for fingerstyle, pick playing, or slap techniques. The Marcus Pure-H Revolution humbuckers deliver a dense and quiet signal with a good headroom.

The electronics push versatility further: the Heritage-3 preamp allows adjustment of bass, treble, and especially mids with variable center frequency, ideal for shifting from a round and wide sound to a more present and incisive tone. The mini-switches for active/passive and series/split/parallel open up several dynamic responses, from compact punch (series) to airier textures (parallel) or finer tones (split), all while maintaining a modern identity.
